by bridging the gap between women artisans in Morocco and socially-conscious communities in the United States.





The Weaving Process
Rug Parties and Presentations on Moroccan Rugs:
In order to spread awareness for Moroccan Rugs and the artisans that make the rugs, Kantara conducts presentations that look at the socio-economic and cultural ramifications of textile production in rural Morocco; rich with anecdotes and balanced by thorough research, these presentations may be booked for organizations, schools, museums, and private parties. Fair Trade:
Kantara Crafts is a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation. As a member, Kantara ensures that all of its artisans are paid promptly and fairly, business is conducted in a transparent and accountable manner, and cultural identity is respected. Furthermore, Kantara supports safe working conditions free of child laborers.
Untangling Threads:
In collaboration with photographer Anna Beeke, Kantara Crafts presents Untangling Threads: Female Artisans in Morocco’s Rug Weaving Industry, an interactive exhibit that displays documentary photos of women weavers besides high-end rugs woven by the very artisans depicted in the photographs.
